About San Luis Obispo County
The San Luis Obispo County is located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean and is almost midway between the metropolitan areas of Los Angeles and San Francisco. In addition, the county is also known as SLO county and is bordered the Monterey county to the north, Santa Barbara County to the south, Kern County to the east, and 100 miles of Pacific Ocean to the west.
Originally home to the Chumash people, the county was eventually reached by Friar Junipero Serra who established Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa in 1772. Eventually, the downtown area of San Luis Obispo grew around the mission and eventually grew into what it is today.
Health care, education services, and retail trade are amongst the county’s most common employment industries. However, other important industries include food preparation and food serving.
When it comes to education, the county is renowned for its educational institutions such as the California Polytechnic State University, and the Cuesta Community College. Both universities attract the attention of people from all around the globe and provide a large array of educational and cultural opportunities.
