Randolph County was created on December 20, 1828 by the Georgia General Assembly. Created from a portion of Lee County, Randolph County was named for a Virginia politician named John Randolph. The county is located on the southwestern side of Georgia. The county is made up of 431 square miles, 428 square miles of which is land and 2.6 square miles of which is water. The bodies of water in Randolph County make for excellent fishing and boating opportunities. The current population is 7,313, including a veteran population of 576.

There are several education resources in Randolph to teach the community about the rich history of the county. History buffs should visit the Fletcher Henderson Museum, which was named for a jazz musician and orchestra arranger.
