Randolph County was created on December 20, 1828 by the Georgia General Assembly. Created from a portion of Lee County, Randolph County was named for a Virginia politician named John Randolph. The county is located on the southwestern side of Georgia. The county is made up of 431 square miles, 428 square miles of which is land and 2.6 square miles of which is water. The bodies of water in Randolph County make for excellent fishing and boating opportunities. The current population is 7,313, including a veteran population of 576.

There are several education resources in Randolph to teach the community about the rich history of the county. History buffs should visit the Fletcher Henderson Museum, which was named for a jazz musician and orchestra arranger. The museum is the location of a Confederate army cemetery and several historical buildings that date back to the early 1800s. Fletcher Henderson’s former home is also located in the Museum area.

For those looking to continue their education, Andrew College is an accredited liberal arts junior college in Randolph County. Once a female-only college, Andrew College offers associate degrees and many transferrable courses. The college has several athletic teams that host many sporting events throughout the year.
