Culinary influences in this section of the city range from Ethiopian, Vietnamese, Eritrean, to Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Indian and Malaysian. New Haven County connects to New York thru the Metro North Railroad. The Mega Bus also travels from the county to New York City, Hartford, and Boston. Several prominent museums are found throughout the county with the most located in New Haven. Museums include the Shoreline Trolley Museum, Fort Nathan Hale Park, Pardee Morris House and the Yale University Art Gallery.

Veterans in New Haven County
Approximately 25,000 veterans make New Haven County their home. This segment of the populous is provided with a multitude of services from several different outlets. The Waterbury Outpatient Clinic offers health and wellness services. These services include internal medical care, annual physical examinations, laboratory diagnostics, x-rays and immediate pharmacy services. The VA Healthcare System of Connecticut operates the Substance Use PTSD Team out of the West Haven campus. Services offered by this team are on an outpatient basis. Additionally, the New Haven Vet Center can be found in West Haven. The vet center holds office hours Monday thru Friday, however under certain circumstances and upon request will provide services at night or on the weekend.
Veteran property owners in New Haven County qualify for a property tax exemption under multiple circumstances of disability. A service-related injury that has rendered the veteran 10 to 25 percent disabled entitles an exemption of $1,500. A 75 to 100 percent rating calls for an exemption of $3,000.
