Lemhi County is a county located on the east side of Idaho, named after a remote mission called Fort Lemhi. The Idaho State Legislature was officially created in 1869. Thanks to its abundance of trails, the Targhee Forest has something for hikers of all skill sets. The forest is made up of open fields, vast caves, and lush forests, great for exploring. The diverse wildlife in the Targhee Forest makes it the perfect location for bird watching. Many streams and lakes can also be found in the Targhee Forest, which are great for fishing.
Many annual festivals and events are held in Lemhi County. The Salmon River Days Festival features fun games and events, great for people of all ages. The festival also features an abundance of delicious food vendors, sure to satisfy anyone’s taste buds. Other annual festivals held in Lemhi County include a Fourth of July Festival, Gilmore Days, and the Annual County Fair and Rodeo!
