About Jackson County
Originally home to the Modoc, Shasta, Rogue River, and Umpqua people, who inhabited the area for hundreds of years, the county was established in 1852. In addition, the county was named in honor of Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States. Moreover, the county seat at Jacksonville was established in 1853.
Today, the county’s principal industries are healthcare, agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism. However, the biggest employment industries in the county are healthcare, retail trade, and manufacturing.
