About Grand County
Named after the Grand Lake and the Grand River, Grand County was created on Feb. 2, 1874. The county is made up of several distinct towns, each with a distinct history. Located 67 miles from the City of Denver, Grand County is the perfect place to experience the beauty of Colorado.
Grand County offers striking views of the Rocky Mountains. It is also the home of several relaxing hot springs. Located in Hot Sulpher Springs, Ute and Arapaho tribes believed that these hot springs offered healing powers. Grand County is the home to one of the nicest resorts in Colorado thanks to these hot springs. The Hot Sulpher Springs Resort offers over 23 hot spring pools for relaxing.
Grand County also offers a great landscape for skiing, snowboarding, and hiking. Winter Park is a town in Grand County that has over 3,000 acres of skiable terrain. The county is also the location of over 600 miles of walkable nature trails.
The county has a thriving music scene perfect for music enthusiasts. There are a number of outdoor music events and festivals that are held in Grand County quite often. The summer festivals showcase both local and national musical artists every week.
