Edgecombe County is located in the eastern portion of North Carolina. Created from a portion of Bertie County, Edgecombe County was officially created in 1741. The county was named after a Member of Parliament in the 1700s, Richard Edgecumbe. Known for its hospitality and friendliness, Edgecombe County is the perfect place for families. The Hall features both Greek Revival and Victorian design. Bracebridge Hall was added to the National Register in 1971 and stands in Tarboro. Mount Prospect is a historical building that features Late Georgian style architecture. Standing in Leggett, Mount Prospect was erected in around 1772. Other Nationally Registered Historic Places include Vinedale, the Walston-Bulluck House, and the Wilkinson-Dozier House.
