The Cimarron Redoubt was built as a fortification for the United States Army in 1870. Through the years, the Cimarron Redoubt has been the site of many different structures, including a post office. The site of the Cimarron Redoubt can still be visited today and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Other Clark County historical sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places includes the Stein House and the Bear Creek Redoubt.
