About Bloomfield County

Founded in 1961 Bloomfield County is named after the broomcorn used to grow in the area where the consolidated County and city currently sit. The County continued to grow by adding parts from Adams, Boulder, Jefferson, and Weld counties until it reached its current size in 2001.

The County’s current economy is a combination of technology, shopping, and entertainment, with the top employers being Lumen Technologies, Oracle, and Urban Lending Solutions. In addition, the most common employment industries are the technical services, healthcare, and manufacturing industries.

When it comes to education, the County is served by six school districts that offer education to more than 208,000 students per year. The two largest districts in the County are Adams Twelve Five Star Schools and Boulder Valley School Districts. All of these school districts have educated students from kindergarten to 12th grade. In addition, the County is also home to Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology, where students can get the training necessary to work on airplanes.

In addition to education and work, residents of the County can also enjoy the many premium outlets, parks, and artistic/ cultural centers. Some of these are the Paul Derda Recreation Center, the Broomfield Auditorium and Gallery, the Broomfield Community Park, and the Broomfield Veterans Memorial Museum.
