Homes in Nye County Nevada

2021 $0 down, VA home loan limit for Nye County is $548,250.

During the Nevada mining boom famed industrialist Charles Schwab purchased the Montgomery Shoshone Mine in the town of Rhyolite. He invested heavily in the town’s infrastructure. Piped water, electric lines and railroad transportation were all brought in to this little corner of Nevada, courtesy of Schwab. Seemingly overnight, water mains, telephones, newspapers, a hospital, school and even an opera sprouted up. Just four years later, the mine, operating at a loss would be closed down. As quickly as people came with the prospect of gold alluring them, they were gone. Rhyolite became just one of many ghost towns filling, Nye County.

Because it only experienced a small portion of the gold and silver boom that it’s surrounding counties reveled in and its close proximity to pioneer trails, Nye County was largely a railroad community. Much of the track and trail lines that were originally built in the late 1800s still exist today.
