Famed Author William Arthur Ward once said “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” In following that sentiment, VA Home Loan Centers recognizes the work of numerous charities for their outstanding contributions to the lives of military service members and their families. As often is the case, the mainstream news highlights the negative, overlooking the tremendous wealth of philanthropic work being done to enhance the lives of veterans and active duty personnel. For their efforts in assisting with the educational pursuits and academic advancement of military members, the eKnowledge Military Donation Project has been named the December recipient of the VA Home Loan Centers ‘Honor Role.’
U.S. Army Reserve Back to School Special
Entering its tenth year and working in conjunction with the Department of Defense, every branch of the United States Military, 250 affiliate partners and numerous professional athletes representing the NFL and MLB, the Military Donation Project is offering SAT and ACT Test Prep Programs valued at $250 for free to military service members. Eligible beneficiaries include active duty or retired veterans from any branch of the military, National Guardsmen, Reservists, DOD employees, contractors and civilian workers performing military support. Additionally, the family members of the aforementioned also qualify.
eKnowldge waives 100 percent of the program cost, individuals are only required to pay for materials and shipping, which equates to a nominal fee of less than $20. 209,000 PowerPrep™ programs have been distributed by eKnowledge to eligible recipients; this constitutes a $48 Million value at no profit to the company.
The PowerPrep™ Program encompasses 11 hours of video instruction, thousands of files of supplemental test prep materials, interactive diagnostics, sample questions and practice tests. In today’s world education is often a cornerstone of achievement, eKnowldge is greatly assisting military members prepare for and get accepted into college. The project has garnered 55,000 thank you notes and testimonials from program recipients. Of the multitude of recommendations, perhaps none better articulate the value of the Military Donation Project more than the following:
