Created on December 30, 1851, Whitfield County is located on the north edge of Georgia. The county was named after a renowned preacher, Reverend George Whitefield. Made from parts of Murray County, Whitfield County is one of the most scenic counties in Georgia. The county encompasses 291 square miles, 290 of which is land, and 0.6 miles of which is water. Home to the Coosa and Tennessee River basins, Whitfield County, has many opportunities for aquatic activities. The total population is 103,542, including a veteran population of 5,376.
