Built in 1967, Playa Blanca is located in the Beach-Barber Tract neighborhood of La Jolla. The coastal area spans from Windansea Beach to La Jolla Village. Shops and eateries dot the neighborhood. Playa Blanca is engulfed by 17 restaurants and two grocery stores. Mere footsteps from the ocean, Windansea Beach is less than a half a block from the property. A multitude of known surfers have made the beach their home at one point or another, and the Windansea surf club, founded in 1962 included Mike Hynson, star of The Endless Summer as a member. The publisher of Surfer Magazine once referred to the local Windansea surfers as the “heaviest surf crew ever.”
Situated on a quiet one-way street, Playa Blanca is a children-friendly complex. The building is gated and secured, providing parents with greater peace of mind. Eight separate public schools are in the attendance area of Playa Blanca. Mount Whitney High School, Divisadero Middle School, and Conyer Elementary School are all only blocks away. The HOA allows for the ownership of pets, and Starkey Mini Park is close by.
HOA fees provide common area maintenance, exterior building maintenance, hot water, sewer, and trash pickup. Most units include a dishwasher, garbage disposal, and an oven.
