Telfair County is home to some of the most interesting history in Georgia. Archaeologists have found artifacts dating back to the 16th century in Telfair County. Named for 16th Governor of Georgia, Edward Telfair, the county is made up of 444 square miles. The county was officially created on December 10, 1807, by the Georgia General Assembly. The other museum in Telfair County is the Scotland Fest Museum of History, which contains exhibits on old railroads.
Several great festivals and events are held in Telfair County annually. One of the most popular events is the Lumber City Farm Day Festival. This festival celebrates the strong agricultural community in Telfair County. The festival features food vendors, arts and crafts, and many games for children! The Lumber City Farm Day Festival also hosts a parade, fun run, and even a dog show. Other events held in Telfair County include the Scotland Festival, Milan Harvest Festival, and Relay for Life.
