Located on the western side of Georgia, Talbot County is the convergence of both the Flint and Chattahoochee Rivers. The county was named after former Governor of Georgia, Matthew Talbot and was made from a portion of Muscogee County. Created on December 14, 1827, by the Georgia General Assembly, Talbot County encompasses a surface area of 395 square miles. The county is made up of a few thriving cities and many laid-back small towns. The total population of Talbot County is 6,390, including a veteran population of 541.

As the basin of both the Flint and Chattahoochee Rivers, Talbot County is a great place for aquatic activities.
