The veteran population of Plymouth County is fairly large. More than 30,000 veterans make their primary residence in the county. The VA operates three health and wellness facilities in Plymouth County.
The VA Medical Center in Brockton is part of the VA Boston Healthcare System. The full-service medical center offers a full range of services, targeted at meeting the needs of the local veteran community. Among the services provided at the center are:

Disabled veterans who own property in Plymouth County may qualify for a property tax exemption. The amount of the exemption varies by the severity of disability and is contingent upon the disability originating during the veteran’s time in service.
Veterans who have a disability rating of 10 percent qualify for an exemption of $400. Veterans with a 100 percent disability rating are entitled to an exemption of $1,000. Veterans who no longer have the functionality of one of their hands, feet or eyes qualify for an exemption of $750.This exemption elevates to $1,250 if the veteran has lost the use of both of their hands, feet or eyes.
