Miller County is located in southwestern Georgia and was named after Andrew Jackson Miller, the president of the Medical College of Georgia. The Georgia State Legislature officially created the county on February 26, 1856. The county was the 117th created in Georgia from portions of Early and Baker counties. The total area of Miller County is 284 square miles, 282 square miles of which is land, and 1.2 square miles of which is water. The current population is 5,958, including a veteran population of 354.
