There are many fun events held in Mahaska County throughout the year. The most popular event held in the county is the Southern Iowa Fair. The Southern Iowa Fair features great food, fun games, live entertainment, and much more! Art on the Square celebrates local artists and their amazing works. Visit Art of the Square to see amazing paintings, drawings, sculptures, and much more. For some of the best food, come to the Sweet Corn Serenade, which features a corn-on-the-cob and pork burger meal.
Visit one of the many parks in Mahaska County to have fun with friends and family! Edmundson Park features a disc golf course and several baseball diamonds. Edmundson Park is also home to a great pond, which offers excellent opportunities for fishing. The largest park in the county is City Park, which features playground equipment, picnic shelters, and more. City Park is also where many festivals are held throughout the year. Other parks in Mahaska County include Keating Jaycee Park and Hewitt Jaycee Park.
If you are looking for other ways to get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors, then be sure to visit one of the recreation areas. The Edmundson Pool is a favorite spot to visit on those warm summer days. The Edmundson Pool is also available for rentals for birthday parties and other gatherings. The county feature several indoor recreation facilities, including the Lacey Recreation Complex and Urban Park. If you are a fan of golf, then be sure to visit the Edmundson Golf Course.
