Created on December 15, 1818, Hall County was named after Dr. Lyman Hall. Dr. Hall was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and a Governor of Georgia. The county is located in the northern portion of Georgia. There are several colleges and universities located in Hall County. The county also features a number of attractions, including Lake Sidney Lanier and the Falcons Complex. Hall County has a veteran population of 10,555, and an entire population of 190,761.
Lake Lanier is a 38,000 acre lake that can be found partly in Hall County. The lake is a great place for boating, swimming, and fishing. Visitors to the lake can enjoy the beautiful views of Northern Georgia. The area around the lake provides many locations for both tent and RV camping. There is a large diversity of fish found in Lake Lanier, which makes it a great place for fishermen. There is also a small collection of islands in the lake, called the Lake Lanier Islands.
The numerous parks make Hall County a great location for families. Alberta Banks Park is 23 acres large and features picnic areas, grills, and a pavilion. The park is also home to the Bobby Bailey Tennis Center and three softball fields. The Allen Creek Soccer Complex features several soccer fields and its own stadium. The stadium contains 2,500 seats, three concession areas, and nine fields.
Hall County is a great place for those looking to continue their education. Brenau University is a four-year university that offers many majors, weekend and evening programs, and several online programs. Brenau University has several sports teams, including basketball, cheerleading, cross county, volleyball, and much more. Hall County is also home to Lanier Technical College, which is an accredited college that offers many technical programs.
There are many great attractions to see in Hall County. The home of the Atlanta Falcons, the Falcons Complex, is located in Hall County. If you are an avid football fan, then there is no better place to visit! For fans of racing, the Lanier National Speedway holds frequent car races. Other great places to visit, include Road Atlanta and the Georgia Mountains Center.
