The Illinois River is a vast waterway that stretches through a lot of the state. There is nothing more relaxing than taking out a boat or canoe on the river on a warm day. The shores of the Illinois River also make an excellent place to relax. Fishers will enjoy the many different species of fish living in Fulton County. Dickson Mounds holds a lot of history. Once a Native American settlement, Dickson Mounds was founded 800 CE. On top of the Dickson Mounds, is a museum that features exhibits on early Native American settlements. The Dickson Mounds Museum houses exhibits on Native American civilizations dating back 12,000 years. Another historical location in Fulton County is the Bernadotte Bridge, which was built in 1910 and still stands between Smithfield and Ipava. Other historical locations in Fulton County include Duncan Mills Bridge, Quincy Railroad Station, and the Carithers Store Building.
